Georgie & Mandy’s Spinoff Just Got Less Exciting Because Of A Young Sheldon Season 7 Update
Young Sheldon season 7, episode 4’s unexpected plot makes Georgie and Mandy’s spinoff a lot less exciting. Because of The Big Bang Theory canon, Young Sheldon has to end despite being at the top of its game. For the show’s creatives, Sheldon’s move to Pasadena for his post-graduate and George’s death seem like the perfect time to wrap up the popular offshoot. Launching Georgie and Mandy’s sequel series is CBS’ attempt to continue capitalizing on The Big Bang Theory universe’s ongoing success, with the new show essentially a continuation of Young Sheldon, just with a different focus.
Georgie and Mandy’s show will focus on the pair’s life as parents to Baby Cece while also navigating their romance, which had a less-than-ideal start. Their journey from short-term lovers to newlyweds is arguably one of the best original arcs that Young Sheldon has come up with thus far. Because The Big Bang Theory barely revealed anything about their plot, Chuck Lorre and his team have more creative wiggle room to craft their future. There’s a lot to be excited about the upcoming endeavor, but a Young Sheldon season 7 development just doused the level of hype surrounding it.
Why Missy Won’t Be In Georgie And Mandy’s Young Sheldon Spinoff
Raegan Revord has previously revealed that she won’t return as Missy in Georgie and Mandy’s Young Sheldon series because she wasn’t invited, meaning she wasn’t asked to be involved. This is already a major disappointment, considering that George and Mary’s only daughter is one of, if not the best Cooper family members. Despite her rebellious acts, she is redeeming herself in season 7, as she promised George in the Young Sheldon season 6 finale. Additionally, The Big Bang Theory canon also mandates her to remain connected to Georgie, which would be difficult to do if they don’t spend time together.
Missy’s Young Sheldon Season 7 Arc Proves She Has More Stories To Tell
Amid the chaos in Young Sheldon season 7, The Big Bang Theory prequel has managed to develop a mini-arc for Missy when she started dating a new boy, Taylor. The pair’s romance is short-lived, as he dumps her in Young Sheldon season 7, episode 4, “Ants on a Log and a Cheating Winker.” As Missy goes through a stereotypical teenage heartbreak, it’s a reminder of how underutilized the character has been. Her more normal experiences could have been a great juxtaposition to Sheldon’s unique path. Georgie and Mandy’s show could have made up for that by involving Missy.
Before the Young Sheldon’s sequel series announcement, Missy was the perfect candidate to spearhead a new expansion show. The Big Bang Theory revealed enough about her that lays the foundation for her future stories. It could have been a team-up show with Missy and Georgie as they navigate life after George’s death, with Sheldon popping by occasionally. Unfortunately, that is not in the cards. While Revord still can guest star as Missy, it isn’t going to be the same as her being a series regular. Now, the pressure is on Young Sheldon to properly wrap up her personal arc.
