Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner got a lot of hate after secrets from his past became public knowledge, and after his quick divorce from Theresa Nist-but one of his exes is coming to his defense over the matter.
Since the news he and Theresa were getting divorced after just three months of marriage, Gerry has been often criticized by fans, with many saying he gives them “the ick” and revealing he was “cringey.”
Gerry has also not helped matters for himself after social media posts since the divorce was finalized.
Fans took particular issue with one where he was pictured wearing a shirt boasting about his home state of Indiana-after he and Theresa split because of the distance between their home states and the fact that neither wanted to move.
However, despite all this, Susan Noles, who also competed for Gerry’s heart and wound up officiating the pair’s nuptials, is sticking by him.
In an episode of SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show with Julia Cunningham, Noles said she felt that with all the backlash, Gerry wound up getting the short end of the stick.
“I’ve gotta support this man a little bit. I feel like he got the wrong end of it,” she said.
“Theresa decided not to move and not to quit her job. He got frustrated. Who can blame him? I mean, I would’ve never said I would move to that place wherever that is in the middle of nowhere.”
The comments come after the pair’s announcement they were splitting up-and their divorce being finalized in June.
The two faced backlash initially as a pair after their April admission they were splitting up.
In an interview with Good Morning America at the time, the two admitted that they had came to the decision to end their marriage after being unable to agree on a place to settle down together.
Gerry was reluctant to leave his Indiana lakehouse, ad his daughters and granddaughters are also based in the midwest. Theresa, meanwhile, lives in New Jersey, where her daughter and three of her grandsons reside.
Theresa also still works in New Jersey, while Gerry is retired.
