More than six years after The Big Bang Theory signed off, Simon Helberg is still reflecting on what made Howard Wolowitz stand out. In a resurfaced Reddit Q&A, the actor admitted that early on, Howard often landed the show’s biggest punchlines — the jokes that closed scenes and lingered longest with audiences.
Helberg credited the writers for continually adding “brilliant layers” to Howard, transforming him from a cringe-inducing womanizer into one of the sitcom’s most complex and emotionally surprising characters. While all the leads had distinct strengths, Howard’s sharp one-liners and dark humor frequently stole the spotlight, especially in the show’s early seasons.
Now, Helberg is moving forward with The Audacity, an AMC dark comedy set in Silicon Valley, while fans can also look ahead to the expanding Big Bang Theory universe — including the upcoming spinoff Stuart Fails to Save the Universe. Geek culture, it seems, is still very much alive.
