Sharing a last name with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen has long sparked curiosity around NCIS: Los Angeles star Eric Christian Olsen — but despite the Hollywood confusion, there’s no family connection.
The Olsen twins, along with sister Elizabeth Olsen, come from a California-based acting dynasty that rose to fame through Full House and later expanded into fashion and film. Eric Christian Olsen, however, was born in Oregon and raised in Iowa, with a completely separate family background. While both share Scandinavian roots, the similarity ends with the surname.
Best known for his 14-season run as fan-favorite Marty Deeks, Eric built his career through comedy, action roles, and longevity rather than inherited fame. Off-screen, he’s part of a different Hollywood circle altogether: married to actress Sarah Wright and brother to stunt performer David Paul Olsen.
