FBI looks to be down an agent, as Jeremy Sisto’s Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jubal Valentine was suspended without pay in the fifth episode of Season 7. Find out what that suspension could mean for the character.
Is Jubal Leaving FBI?
In FBI Season 7 Episode 5, titled “Pledges,” which aired November 19, 2024, Sisto’s Jubal faces the consequences of attempting to call in a favor.
The episode synopsis explains: “When a chaotic campus protest turns deadly, the team are called in to help quell the mayhem and track down the murderer; Jubal is concerned when Tyler is detained along with a group of student protesters.”
There’s certainly a lot going on in the episode, including the FBI taking down a drug operation and solving a murder. In terms of Jubal’s storyline, he sees that his son is among those arrested during the protest and approaches a police officer to explain the situation. “That kid in the blue hoodie, plaid shirt, that is my son, Tyler. He’s not even enrolled here; he’s in high school,” he says. “Any chance you’d consider releasing him to me? I guarantee you he’ll receive the discipline he deserves.”
Despite Jubal’s effort, the Sergeant won’t bend because his job would be at risk. “You realize what you’re asking me to do… my badge is on the line,” the cop tells him.

Jubal calls in a favor and the police captain doesn’t charge Tyler — his son is released. That move had consequences, however. He was given written notice that he was being reported to the Office of Professional Responsibility and that he was suspended without pay.
Will Jubal leave the show? Given that it’s a suspension and he wasn’t fired, it’s likely that we just won’t see Sisto in some upcoming episodes. If he’s missing, it won’t be surprising since the suspension explains his absence from an episode or multiple episodes.
There’s no indication of how many episodes he might be absent from, but it’s common for actors to have other projects that take them away from filming a show or it may be due to budget cuts that reduce the number of episodes cast members appear in. In May 2023, Deadline reported that series regular actors on FBI and FBI: Most Wanted had their minimum guaranteed episodes cut by two episodes in Season 7 as a way to save costs. These series are reportedly “more expensive because they film in the U.S. and have larger regular casts (5-6 members) with big names.”
In a Reddit discussion about the episode, fans discussed their thoughts on Jubal calling in a favor to allow his son to avoid an arrest. “Jubal needs to let his kid fail and face consequences,” one person wrote. “He’s an entitled little sh—.”
One fan argued, “To be fair to Jubal, it’s what a lot of parents would probably do in the same situation.”
Another noted, “The kid is underage. Nothing would have really happened to him anyway.”
One fan expressed disappointment about Jubal “being the center of storylines,” noting, “I’m just over him. Give the others more air time. I know it isn’t every week, but c’mon.”
