As two of the most notable members of NCIS’ best team thus far, Tony and Ziva’s chemistry was clear from the get-go. Their banter always felt natural, with their clear feelings for each other just simmering on the surface. Separately, the characters were also both compelling, rounding up Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ squad during the show’s golden years. So when De Pablo left, followed by Weatherly a few years later, it was a massive loss to the show.
NCIS: Tony & Ziva’s Cancelation Allows Weatherly & De Pablo To Appear In The Flagship Together
During the 2025-2026 TV season, Weatherly and De Pablo returned to the franchise via NCIS: Tony & Ziva. The first-ever spinoff from the universe to be on Paramount+, it followed the couple across Europe for their own story, separate from what’s going on back in Navy Yard. Unfortunately, Paramount+ opted to cancel NCIS: Tony & Ziva, which means that it won’t return for season 2.
What Are The Chances That Tony & Ziva Rejoin MCRT?
Tony and Ziva returning to Navy Yard doesn’t mean that they will rejoin MCRT. In terms of narrative, doing so means undoing the life that they worked so hard to have in Paris — something that would be sad to see, despite the temptation of seeing them again as field agents. On the flip side, re-incorporating them back into the team will require a massive show overhaul, considering that currently, Alden Parker’s team is doing just fine.
Despite that, it shouldn’t deter CBS from reuniting Tony and Ziva with McGee and the rest of their old team. It will be incredibly nostalgic to see them work again for a temporary but compelling case, which would have been a perfect plot for NCIS: Tony & Ziva. This also fits perfectly with NCIS season 23’s drumming up the nostalgia factor in its narratives. Ideally, Gibbs should also be back around the same time for the ultimate reunion, but if that isn’t in the cards, then at least Tony and Ziva will have re-established their ties with the MCRT.
