The cancellation of NCIS: Tony & Ziva may sting — but it could ultimately be the franchise’s smartest reset. The Paramount+ spinoff allowed fans to finally see Tony and Ziva together, but it also kept them isolated from the world that made them iconic.
Now that chapter is closed, NCIS has a rare opportunity: bringing its most beloved duo back where they belong. Tony and Ziva have already returned to the MCRT separately over the years. Seeing them walk back into Navy Yard together would be emotionally earned, not forced.
Rejoining the team full-time may be unlikely, especially with Alden Parker’s squad functioning smoothly. But NCIS thrives on event storytelling. A limited arc or major case would honor the characters’ growth while reigniting the magic fans remember.
Sometimes, the end of one show is exactly what another needs.
