TVLine has confirmed that season 3, episode 9 of NCIS: Sydney, which was originally supposed to air on December 16, has now been replaced by a rerun of an episode from season 22 titled “Baker’s Man.” CBS hasn’t officially announced the change in its schedule or the reason for pulling the iconic fall finale of the series.

TVLine also stated that sources have said that the episode will air at a later date. It’s unclear at this time if it will impact the mid-season premiere, which is originally supposed to air on February 24.

The episode that was to serve as the fall finale of NCIS: Sydney was season 3, episode 9, titled South of Nowhere and included the synopsis:

“The team races to an Antarctica research base to investigate why a climate scientist killed a colleague on Polar Night Eve — and make it out before their plane engine freezes, and they’re trapped in darkness for six months.”

The NCIS spin-off began in 2023, and currently has an IMDb rating of 6.2/10 compared to the flagship series, which has a 7.8/10. The original NCIS began in 2003 and has 23 seasons, and is one of the longest-running primetime dramas in U.S. history with over 1,000 episodes. The franchise currently has produced six main spinoffs, which all expand the crime-solving universe.

The cast of NCIS: Sydney includes Olivia Swan, Todd Lasance, Sean Sagar, Tuuli Narkle, and William McInnes. It’s created and written by Morgan O’Neill, Ella Cook, and James Cripps.
