Chicago Fire PAs Make History With Union Vote md14

Production assistants on Chicago Fire have made history, unanimously voting to unionize in a landmark labor victory. The decision marks the first Chicago-shot television series to win a National Labor Relations Board election for production assistants, as well as the first NBC show to reach this milestone.

Out of 23 eligible voters, 18 cast ballots in favor of unionization, with 10 additional votes challenged. Pending certification by the NLRB, the next step will be negotiating a collective bargaining agreement with NBC.

The vote represents the latest success for Production Assistants United, a grassroots movement backed by LiUNA Local 724 that has gained rapid momentum across the industry. Recent victories include Abbott Elementary, The Pitt, and All American.

Chicago Fire production assistants say the move is about fairness, protection, and recognition for a workforce that plays a vital role behind the scenes — and could signal broader change across television production.
