What fuels suspicion is an earlier scene in which Calvin and his men, driving pickup trucks, nearly collide with Brady outside the lumber yard. The moment barely registers — until Doc later mentions that Hope was struck by a reckless truck.
At the time, Calvin was lying low after Jack exposed his criminal operation, allowing his crew to act on his behalf. Targeting Hope, an innocent but deeply connected figure in Virgin River, would send a chilling message: no one is untouchable.
