A great loss for Hollywood: Mark Harmon has passed away md20

NCIS: Tony & Ziva will not be going forward with season 2 on Paramount+, effectively cancelling the series. In an official statement, Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo, who play Tony and Ziva respectively, thanked CBS and Paramount+ for the chance to revisit their characters once more.

“We feel incredibly lucky to have had the chance to play these characters once again and to tell the next chapter of Tony and Ziva’s story,” the duo shared, before continuing, “Our deepest thanks go to our extraordinary cast, crew, writers, directors, and producers, and to our partners at CBS Studios and Paramount+ who helped make this dream a reality.”

In addition to the creative, the NCIS veterans thanked their audience who tuned in. Weatherly and de Pablo said, “But most of all, we want to thank the fans around the world who joined us on this adventure and finally got to see Tony and Ziva find their happily ever after.”

The cancellation of the spinoff comes nearly two months after NCIS: Tony & Ziva season 1 ended its run on October 23, 2025. Back in October, de Pablo had stated what she had hoped to see teased a season 2 story if the show got renewed:

Cote de Pablo: The past is always coming back and haunting them. And somehow that past is always bringing them back into something that they have to overcome. They’re always constantly being tested, and they have to rise [and] rely on each other. Trust in each other.

Not only did Weatherly and de Pablo return in front of the camera, but the two leads also worked on NCIS: Tony & Ziva as executive producers. Whether they may ever return in any of the NCIS series down the line remains to be seen.
