One NCIS spinoff has already prematurely entered the fall hiatus. Fans waiting to catch the latest NCIS: Sydney have just received some bad news.
CBS didn’t reveal the reason for the major change. Instead of the new episode that would send the offshoot into hiatus, CBS will feature a rerun of NCIS‘s Season 22, Episode 10, “Baker’s Man.”
It’s unclear what will happen with Season 3, Episode 9, “South of Nowhere.” The outlet mentions it’s set to air at a later date, although CBS hasn’t confirmed whether it will mark the midseason premiere, which is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 10 p.m., or will air sooner.
Episode 9 had previously received a promo clip on Dec. 9, which teased that it would be an action-packed episode. The official synopsis reads as follows: “The team races to an Antarctica research base to investigate why a climate scientist killed a colleague on Polar Night Eve — and make it out before their plane engine freezes and they’re trapped in darkness for six months.”
What Is NCIS: Sydney About?
It stars Olivia Swann as Michelle Mackey, NCIS Supervisory Special Agent and Todd Lasance as Sergeant Jim “JD” Dempsey, Australian Federal Police (AFP) Second-in-Command, as well as Sean Sagar, Tuuli Narkle, Mavournee Hazel, and William McInnes.
Season 3 didn’t shake up the main cast, but added a series of notable recurring and guest stars. Among them are Blue’s twin brother, Eli, and Travis “Trigger” Riggs. It further deepened the stories of its existing characters, including Rosie’s grief, and JD’s past and personal life. In Episode 5, “Black Is White,” Trigger also became a part of the APF/ NCIS Sydney task.
NCIS: Sydney isn’t the only show to go on hiatus. The flagship series also ends today, after the upcoming episode “Heaven and Nature.” NCIS: Origins also entered hiatus on Dec. 9. All of them will return on Feb. 24.
