The Golden Bachelor star Theresa Nist offered support to her dear friend and the first-ever Golden Bachelorette Joan Vassos, as Joan shared an update about leaving to begin her journey on the dating series. Theresa, a 70-year-old financial services professional from Shrewsbury, New Jersey, and Joan, a 61-year-old private school administrator from Rockville, Maryland, competed for Gerry Turner’s heart in The Golden Bachelor season 1. However, the 72-year-old retired restaurateur from Hudson, Indiana, married Theresa in the end, although they’ve now finalized their divorce. Joan left the show early to return home to her daughter, who was experiencing postpartum depression.
In a comment in response to Joan’s Instagram post about leaving to begin her Golden Bachelorette journey, Theresa wished her friend well.
Theresa wrote, “Sending you so much love and support as you embark on this amazing journey, my friend.” Theresa went on to say, “I am so incredibly excited for you!! I’ll be thinking about you and sending you only good thoughts.” She concluded by saying she hoped that Theresa has the time of her life.

Joan’s Golden Bachelorette season is one of the most anticipated ever. She was the perfect choice for the role, and she deserves a second chance at finding love after selflessly leaving The Golden Bachelor to be there for her family. However, it would be fantastic to some day see Theresa as the Golden Bachelorette as well. She also should have the opportunity to star on the spin-off on her own terms, especially since she still wants to find love in the future.
