Alexandra Breckenridge is ringing in the holidays with a surprising twist—by playing Santa Claus. The Virgin River favorite leads Netflix’s newest festive rom-com, My Secret Santa, which premiered December 3 as part of the streamer’s holiday lineup.
Directed by Mike Rohl, the film follows Taylor, a single mom who disguises herself as Santa to score a seasonal job at a luxury ski resort and pay for her daughter’s snowboarding camp. Cue comedy, cozy romance, and a little identity chaos, with Ryan Eggold stepping in as her charming love interest.
Breckenridge says the transformation pushed her creatively in all the right ways. “I never imagined I’d play Santa,” she told People. “Wearing prosthetics, changing my voice, altering my posture—it was totally outside my comfort zone, and I loved it.”
Shot in early 2025 in British Columbia, the movie leans into classic holiday-movie tropes—mistaken identities, heartfelt moments, and plenty of snow-dusted charm.
