Tyler Cameron’s unexpected reason dad should be next Golden Bachelor instead of contestant

Tyler Cameron wants his father Jeff Cameron to join Bachelor Nation.

However, he has a interesting reason for why he thinks his dad would be better suited as the next Golden Bachelor, not a contestant on Golden Bachelorette.

Cameron-a contestant on Hannah Brown’s Season 15 of The Bachelorette-told Us Weekly at CMA Fest’s Fitness at Fest event: “He would be good for being the Golden Bachelor, not [on] the Golden Bachelorette. [Because] he likes to juggle multiple women at once. So, he’d be better for the Golden Bachelor.”

Jeff was previously married to Tyler’s mom Andrea Cameron, who died in February 2020 at 55.
Jeff and Andrea shared Tyler and his brothers Ryan and Austin.

After Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist announced their divorce in April, Tyler claimed it painted a stain on the entire Bachelor Nation.

The Bachelorette star didn’t hold back his thoughts on the scandal during an episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen aired on April 18.

“Shame, shame, shame,” he declared. “Because they’re supposed to be setting the standard of what we’re supposed to find. And they didn’t make it happen. Canceled.”

Cameron then touched on the impact of the divorce on the franchise’s image, saying it “put a stain on love and Bachelor Nation because it was the most wholesome. And then they just pulled the rug right out from under us.”

The former model also speculated on the reasons behind the split, hinting at a clash of wills: “Gerry and Theresa don’t want to change their ways. Like it’s just two stubborn old people, you know? And when you get older you get more stubborn.”

Now, Tyler has suggested that the producers move The Golden Bachelorette to his home state of Florida to combat Gerry and Theresa’s failed marriage.

While speaking about Joan Vassos’ upcoming season of The Golden Bachelorette, Tyler said: “Hopefully it lasts longer than the Golden Bachelor.

“I know I got a lot of c–p for saying [Gerry and Theresa] made a ‘stain on love,’ but they did and I think if they’re gonna do the Golden Bachelorette, they should just hold it in Florida.”

He added: “I’ll run the show. There’s plenty of people to pick from [and] we’ll go to the villages where all the old people hang out or Boca or Jupiter and I can help guide the way. I know plenty of old guys like my dad that [would like to] meet a nice lady right now.”

Cameron isn’t the only Bachelor Nation star who though the divorce tarnished the franchise.

Speaking to The Mirror US, Bachelor in Paradise alums Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon, who married in 2019, shared fears that the divorce was going to “tarnish” the new series.

“I don’t know what it is, I can’t put my finger on it. I just know that internally,” Ashley said.

“Whoever the woman Bachelorette is, may she have a very successful marriage or whatever she wants to come from it,” she added.

She also expressed doubt over the reason that has been given for the split – Gerry and Theresa explained that they couldn’t figure out where to live together, and couldn’t overcome the distance between their homes in Indiana and New Jersey.

Meanwhile, Jared shared that he felt the couple’s mistakes came not only from how quickly they got married, but also the fact that they gave a reason.

“They should just never have given an excuse,” he said. “They should have been like, ‘Listen it didn’t work out. We thought it would, we made a mistake’.

“It’s very interesting because it happened so fast. Obviously, they were not in that much love. And then they got married when they shouldn’t have because they had a televised wedding and they saw a cool opportunity.”
