Chris O’Donnell Opens Up About NCIS: LA, Hetty, and His New 9-1-1: Nashville Role md14

Chris O’Donnell is trading the high-octane world of NCIS: Los Angeles for ABC’s upcoming 9-1-1: Nashville, but he’s still keeping tabs on his former NCIS character, Callen. At Disney’s recent Upfront, O’Donnell reacted to news that Callen and Anna are expecting a baby — a milestone fans have long anticipated.

He also addressed Hetty Lange’s unresolved storyline. Fans hoped for closure after Hetty went MIA in the series’ final season, and O’Donnell revealed that a TV movie rescue idea was pitched during the dual Hollywood strikes following the May 2023 finale — though it ultimately didn’t move forward.

Turning to his new project, O’Donnell will star as Don Sharpe, a rugged fire captain and devoted family man leading Nashville’s busiest firehouse in 9-1-1: Nashville, which premieres this fall. While filming begins in June, he teased some key differences between Don and Callen, promising viewers a fresh, action-packed drama.

Jessica Capshaw joins him as his on-screen wife Blythe, hinting at heartfelt, fun moments ahead for the new series.
