Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik will reunite as Sheldon and Amy in the Young Sheldon finale
Young Sheldon must go out with a bang — so it only makes sense to have a Big Bang Theory reunion.
Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik are set to reprise their roles as Sheldon Cooper and Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler for the final episode of the prequel series. Details of the on-screen couple’s reunion are being kept under wraps, so there’s no telling what kind of time-skip or TV magic will account for their appearance — but the important thing is, the saga of Shamy isn’t over just yet!
The duo last shared the screen in the May 2019 series finale of The Big Bang Theory, which saw Sheldon and Amy win the Nobel Prize in physics. Previously, Young Sheldon has featured numerous references to the flasgship series, including voiceovers from Bialik, Kaley Cuoco (as Penny), and Simon Helberg (as Howard).
The show stars Iain Armitage as the adolescent version of Parsons’ Big Bang Theory protagonist, following his adventures as a child prodigy in ’80s and ’90s East Texas. Parsons, who provides narration as adult Sheldon, originally conceived the idea for Young Sheldon and brought it to producers.
The series premiered on CBS in 2016, airing on the same night as The Big Bang Theory through its final two seasons. The prequel soon became one of the most watched comedies on broadcast television.
The network has since announced that The Big Bang Theory universe is set to expand with yet another series: a Young Sheldon spinoff centering Georgie Cooper (Jordan) and his wife, Mandy (Emily Osment), as they raise their family in Texas.
Young Sheldon is currently airing its seventh and final season, which will conclude with back-to-back episodes on May 16.
