Virgin River favorite Benjamin Hollingsworth is spreading holiday cheer with his new film The Christmas Ring, co-starring Jana Kramer. The pair first bonded off-screen during a family barbecue in Nashville, where their kids instantly hit it off — a connection Hollingsworth says translated beautifully on camera.
Based on Karen Kingsbury’s novel, the movie follows a military widow (Kramer) searching for a lost heirloom and the antique dealer (Hollingsworth) who helps her. Drawn to the story’s themes of grief, healing, and renewed hope, Hollingsworth says the film honors both the magic and the emotional weight of the holiday season.
Filming in Nashville’s 100-degree heat while wearing winter coats wasn’t easy, but the actor was thrilled the movie received a theatrical release before hitting on-demand platforms. He also cherished working with Kelsey Grammer, calling the experience surreal for a lifelong Frasier fan.
Hollingsworth credits classic ’90s rom-coms — from 10 Things I Hate About You to Matthew McConaughey’s charm-filled hits — for inspiring both his teen years and his acting style today.
