It’s been five years since Catherine Bell reprised her fan-favorite JAG role of Sarah “Mac” MacKenzie on NCIS: Los Angeles, and she’s eager for a proper return. Bell first appeared in NCIS: LA’s season 10 finale, revealing that Mac and Harmon had broken up after a nine-year separation, but fans wanted more.
Speaking at Motor City Comic Con, Bell admitted the crossover was “a little disappointing,” especially since fans hoped to see the iconic couple reunited. Yet she remains optimistic about future stories for Mac and Harm, suggesting, “Mac is still working with the government… she’s still in a position of power, a strong woman, maybe Harm and Mac are back together.”
Bell’s ideas highlight an open range of possibilities for the characters, offering hope for a potential JAG revival. Co-star David Elliott has also expressed interest in returning, noting that “there’s always a chance” for the series to come back under creator Donald P. Bellisario’s guidance.
The NCIS franchise has largely eclipsed JAG in popularity, but with ongoing expansions like NCIS: Origins and spin-offs such as Tony & Ziva, the door remains open for Bell and Elliott’s characters to return. Origins, in particular, could set the stage for a standalone JAG revival, connecting Gibbs’ early days with modern Navy legal cases while building toward fresh stories for Mac and Harm.
For fans, the possibility of seeing Mac and Harm together again isn’t gone — it’s just waiting for the right moment.
