CBS’ Fire Country continues to explore the personal and professional lives of firefighters in the fictional Northern California town of Edgewater. Among the show’s core figures is Sharon Leone, portrayed by Diane Farr. As the mother of protagonist Bode Leone, Sharon is central to the emotional backbone of the series and even crosses over into the upcoming spinoff Sheriff Country.
In Season 4, Episode 6, viewers were given their first glimpse of a new—and highly disruptive—presence in Sharon’s life: her mother, Ruby, played by Christine Lahti. Ruby’s sudden appearance at Sharon’s doorstep comes moments after Sharon uncovers unsettling truths involving both her late husband, Vince, and Ruby herself. According to Farr, Ruby’s arrival won’t be a gentle reunion; she’s expected to push Sharon toward questionable choices and reignite old tensions.
Ruby enters the story at a vulnerable time. Season 4, which premiered on October 17, 2025, follows the Cal Fire team as they struggle with internal fractures and emotional fallout after the devastating loss of veteran firefighter Vince Leone. The sixth episode, titled Your Voice in My Head, digs deeper into the impact of Vince’s death while exposing long-hidden secrets.
Throughout the episode, Bode spirals into frustration and grief, determined to investigate his father’s death despite not being cleared to do so. He pressures Sharon into signing off on his involvement and quickly butts heads with federal investigators—going so far as to confront Agent Ruffin and threaten to pursue his own parallel investigation. His recklessness puts strain not only on himself but also on Manny and Sharon.
Meanwhile, Sharon stumbles upon documents revealing that Vince had been making payments to an unknown person before his death. Her search for answers leads her to Walter, who, after a pleasant lunch, finally explains the truth: Ruby had been blackmailing Vince. Fearing Ruby’s influence on Sharon—especially after the loss of their daughter Riley—Vince paid Ruby to keep her distance. Walter also reassures Sharon that Vince had already succumbed to his injuries before she left him at the scene, absolving her of guilt.
With the truth laid bare, Sharon decides it’s time to confront her mother and stop the payments now that Vince is gone. But before she can act, Ruby unexpectedly shows up at her home—planning to stay, and almost certainly bringing fresh turmoil with her.
