Here’s who still has a shot at Gerry Turner’s final rose.
When The Golden Bachelor premiered on ABC on Sept. 28, it gave Bachelor Nation a first look at its first-ever format featuring a senior citizen, and introduced viewers to the 22 women who are vying for the 71-year-old lead’s heart.
The brand-new spinoff is described as a celebration of “the golden years,” as the cast list includes women between the ages of 60 to 75 from all different backgrounds. One of the women is the mother of a former Bachelor star and another the ex-wife of a retired baseball player.
The premise of The Golden Bachelor is to give “one hopeless romantic a second chance at love in the search for a partner with whom to share the sunset years of life,” per a release from the network. For the show’s leading man, Turner is looking for love again after the death of his wife and high school sweetheart, Toni.
“For a while it was like, I was having a hard time figuring out if she would be okay [with this],” Turner said on Good Morning America. “But we always told each other when one of us goes, we want the other to be happy. She’s up there rooting [for me]. She’s saying, ‘Yeah, Gerry. Do this.’”
