Young Sheldon Fails To Solve Biggest Mystery (Worsening TBBT Absence)

Sheldon’s time in Texas is done but arguably Young Sheldon‘s biggest mystery remains unresolved and it has narrative implications for The Big Bang Theory. Five years after The Big Bang Theory ended in 2019, its prequel series also wraps its run. The decision to pull the plug on Young Sheldon remains divisive, with star Annie Potts voicing out her criticism of it. That said, Young Sheldon‘s end is due to the established timeline by its parent series. Interestingly, however, the prequel isn’t exactly great in terms of preserving continuity, making this reasoning more controversial.

Nevertheless, the writers insist that both shows are tied together, hence why Sheldon’s story is prioritized in Young Sheldon’s final hour. Before that, George’s dreaded death finally happened, despite being one of the best characters in the series — yet another detail established in The Big Bang Theory. Georgie and Mandy’s upcoming sequel series titled Georgie And Mandy’s First Marriage can reveal more details about what happens to the remaining Texas-based Cooper family members on the heels of the Young Sheldon ending. However, there’s one particular plot line from the prequel that will likely never be resolved after it wraps up.

The Young Sheldon finale hints at a potential dark fate for Sheldon’s best friend, Leonard, five years after the end of The Big Bang Theory.

Young Sheldon Leaves Paige’s Fate Unresolved

It’s Unlikely That Georgie And Mandy’s Spinoff Will Tackle Paige’s Story.

Amid a busy Young Sheldon finale, the show forgets to give an update on how Paige Swanson is doing. Sheldon’s fallen fellow prodigy was last seen back in season 6 when Missy called her for a random joyride to Florida. They were caught just before they were able to cross state lines, and while Sheldon’s sister was reprimanded for her misdemeanor, Young Sheldon never revealed what happened to Paige. She has been a regular guest star in the series since debuting back in season 2, and she has one of the most compelling character arcs outside the Cooper family.

Since Sheldon is no longer in Texas and Missy isn’t going to be a series regular in Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage, the chances of Paige’s narrative getting a proper closure in the offshoot are very little to none.

Due to Young Sheldon ending in a shortened year, the writers had to discern which plots were going to be prioritized. Understandably, the focus of season 7 was mostly on the Coopers, and setting up Georgie and Mandy’s spinoff. However, while she isn’t part of the clan, Paige’s arc is one of the best original stories from the prequel. Since Sheldon is no longer in Texas and Missy isn’t going to be a series regular in Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage, the chances of Paige’s narrative getting a proper closure in the offshoot are very little to none.

Mary hated George for the most part in The Big Bang Theory, and she reveals the reason why during her funeral speech in the Young Sheldon finale.

Paige’s Unfinished Young Sheldon Story Makes Her TBBT Absence More Curious

Sheldon Never Mentioned Paige To The Pasadena Gang.

Young Sheldon makes Paige big bang theory absense worse

Young Sheldon‘s failure to give Paige a definitive final fate makes her The Big Bang Theory absence so much more intriguing. The character neither appeared nor was referenced in the nerd-centric sitcom. Oddly, Sheldon never brought her up, considering Sheldon’s eidetic memory, not to mention how her experience made him appreciate how lucky he was to have a solid support system. Given how her story has developed in the last few years, there have been dark theories about what happened to Paige. Unfortunately, they will unlikely be confirmed or denied after Young Sheldon‘s end.
