FANS have slammed NBC after the network canceled Chicago One franchise episodes with no forewarning.
Chicago One has entered a hiatus of new episodes and has been airing reruns as production “catches up” from Writer’s Guild and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
Fans have ripped NBC via X after the network chose to withhold new episodes of the Chicago One shows without warning this week.
“So before I structure my night around TV is there going to be new episodes of #OneChicago tonight?” one asked.
“No new #OneChicago tonight,” a second replied.
“Unbelievable. A second time in a month with no new episodes; #OneChicago is airing repeat episodes. No new episode until March 20th.
“This is disappointing, considering we have a shortened season due to the strike,” a third ranted.
“The one that doesn’t take a break every other week. I’d prefer the season end early than wonder each week if it’s a new episode or repeat,” a fourth wrote.
“Why with the later start date are we already doing reruns?” a fifth asked.
“When it comes to television, Wednesday is the only day I look forward to these days. And both #ChicagoMed and #AbbottElementary are repeats tonight? Throw the whole week away,” another complained.
“Is this a repeat of #ChicagoMed,” an angry fan asked.
“Here I was looking forward to #ChicagoPD coming on tonight but then experience told me – hold up, I’d better check the Google. Sure enough it’s canceled.”
“Why is every other week a d**n rerun,” a second wondered.
“Again repeat #ChicagoPD,” a third ripped.
“Why is Chicago PD new episodes coming every other week or two weeks like you’re telling me I have to wait even more just for a new episode #ChicagoPD,” a fourth wondered.
“#ChicagoPD #ChicagoFire #ChicagoMed you need to come back!!!” a final begged.
CHICAGO DISASTER
The Chicago Franchise consists of four different shows, Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, Chicago P.D., and Justice.
Fans became enraged this week when they realized that the scheduling in March had been loaded with reruns rather than new episodes.
According to TV Line, the reason lies with the 2023 Writers Guild strike that lasted 148 days earlier this year.
This stand-still ended up overlapping with the 118-day SAG-AFTRA strike, causing problems network-wide.
As a result, scriptwriting for the current seasons of Chicago One was held up and the cast was unable to start shooting until after November 9.
BACK ON FIRE
Season 12 of Chicago Fire began on January 17 and has continued in the months since.
But breaks in production have caused further delays as the show seeks to catch up after the long filming hiatus.
The show’s season began with four new episodes in a row, followed by a one-week break, and then two more new episodes.
According to the outlet, there are seven episodes left to air this season of Chicago Fire, with three brand new installments set to air starting on Wednesday, March 20.
Season 12 has ranked in more than 9 million weekly viewers, making it the most-watched show on all of NBC.
Chicago Fire is also considered the number 3 top drama on all of broadcast television.
The Chicago One fan favorite airs on Wednesdays at 9 EST and has since September 2018.
The show just barely over-ranks Chicago Med and Chicago P.D.
The entire franchise is also accessible on streaming via Peacock.
