According to TV Line, S.W.A.T. and Magnum P.I. alum Emily Alabi will be leaving FBI after recurring in Season 8 as Dani Rhodes. Alabi joined the show during Season 7, taking on the role of Rhodes, the new partner to John Boyd‘s Stuart Scola. Since Special Agent Tiffany Wallace, played by Katherine Renee Kane, left the team in the Season 7 premiere, the procedural has tried to find a solution regarding a consistent partner for Scola. Prior to Rhodes’ arrival, Scola had teamed up with Lissette Olivera, who joined as Syd, an Agent from the BAU, but that was equally short-lived. With the departure of Alabi, it means that the position has once again become open and would require filling. Alabi is expected to make an appearance to wrap up her character’s story in Season 8 before departing.

The ‘FBI’ Franchise Continues To Make Several Changes

As Alabi exits, the revolving cast door of FBI Season 8 admits another. A Law & Order: Special Victims Unit alum, Juliana Aidén Martinez, is joining the cast of Season 8 of FBI as a series regular. While the casting announcement contains no details regarding Martinez’s character, this surprising cast departure offers a potential clue with regard to who Martinez might be playing when the police procedural returns in the fall.

The FBI universe has seen its fair share of turmoil, that much is clear and there is more to come, albeit in a positive sense. The franchise is poised to expand with a new spin-off, CIA. The new series will follow a charismatic, rule-breaking CIA case officer, Hart Hoxton, who has to work with a veteran FBI agent who trusts the rule of law. Tom Ellis will star in the lead role with casting underway for other characters. The series was set for a fall premiere. However, a recent update announced that the show would have to settle for a mid-season premiere even as it loses its showrunner, David Hudgins, with longtime Wolf collaborator, Warren Leight, taking the reins.
