Young Sheldon spoilers follow.
Young Sheldon star Iain Armitage has paid tribute to Lance C00per following his final scene as George Sr.
In the seventh season’s latest instalment that went out on CBS this week, George suddenly died of a heart attack at work, with Tom and Wayne forced to pass on the devastating news to Mary.
Fans of mother show The Big Bang Theory were of course already aware of George’s fate, yet the abrupt nature of the twist would’ve still been a shock to many.

Posting a shot of their father-and-son characters together onto Instagram yesterday (May 10), as well as a selfie from behind the scenes, Sheldon actor Armitage captioned them: “Love you, George! Love you, Lance!!!” alongside multiple red heart emojis.
This was echoed by various social media users in the comment column, who replied: “That death got me right in the feels even though we knew it was eventually going to happen. We love you George Cooper,” and: “I knew from the beginning it was going to happen but it was still heartbreaking”.
Elsewhere, Young Sheldon co-showrunner Steve Holland recently addressed the team’s decision to kill off George in this particular episode.
