This season of NCIS: Tony & Ziva has been a verified hit. The show has reignited the original NCIS fandom with this spinoff, especially Tiva stans who just can’t get enough of their faves Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and Ziva David (Cote de Pablo). There’s been a lot of action, suspense, and romance — and the last episode gives a satisfyingly heartwarming conclusion (???) to the series.
The finale begins after Tony and Ziva learn that their daughter Tali (Isla Gie) is missing, which audiences know is because she’s been kidnapped by the show’s villain, Jonah Markham (Julian Ovenden). The duo certainly won’t back down, especially when someone threatens their young daughter’s life.
So how will Tony and Ziva save Tali? What becomes of Jonah? And will Tiva finally get the happy ending they deserve? Here’s everything that went down in the season finale of NCIS: Tony & Ziva.
Tony and Ziva work with Jonah’s former partner.
Tony and Ziva receive a call from Jonah demanding that they head over to Aaron Graves’s (Sean Pertwee) compound alone or else Tali would would suffer the consequences. He wants them to take the fall for his crimes as he tries to access Graves’ vault, which protects the 9.4 server that could control the Reigning Fire weapons systems.
This situation becomes tricky for the parents, who feel like they have very limited moves to make. But luckily Jonah’s former ally Martine (Nassima Benchicou) decides to team up with them. After feeling betrayed by Jonah and feeling like he’s taking things too far by taking a child hostage, Martine calls for a truce. She tells them that she can help with rescuing Tali if they help her destroy Jonah. She confesses that she killed Graves to slow Jonah down by preventing him from getting the access code to the vault. They hatch a plan together.
Boris (Maximilian Osinski) and Claudette (Amita Suman) manage to zero-in on Tali’s location, so Ziva tells Martine and Sophie (Lara Rossi) to join them and rescue Tali. Meanwhile, Tony and Ziva head to the Graves compound to “surrender” to Jonah, who later lists off several of his crimes that the two must confess to in order to save their daughter.

Not everything goes as planned.
With the help of Dejan Lazar (Velibor Topic), Boris and Claudette try to figure out the 9.4 server’s vulnerabilities and hack it so that they can take control of the weapons systems. Meanwhile, Martine and Sophie rescue Tali. They manage to sneak into the tower, take down the guards, and break Tali out. Once Tony and Ziva get the signal that their daughter is safe, they begin their own escape through the tunnels.
However, once Jonah gets word of Tali getting rescued, he sends his men and drones to target Martine. The attacks throw the plan off, but Boris and Tali manage to make it out. But, of course, Tali doesn’t want to leave without their parents. And so she and Boris head back towards the direction of Graves’ compound. Boris, of course, wants to keep Tali out of harm’s way, so he later tells her to hide in a yellow truck.
Do Tony and Ziva kill Jonah?
As they make their way through the gardens, Ziva stops in her tracks and says that she has to kill Jonah. She says that it’s the only way to make sure that their family is safe. However, Tony disagrees and says that the 9.4 might kill Ziva if she even tries. But, of course, Ziva points out that Jonah doesn’t even have the code to the vault so there’s no way he could gain access to the AI server. As they argue, the two are able to magically crack the code themselves and decide to use this to bait Jonah.
They tell Jonah that they know the code to the vault and open it for him. This is when Jonah reveals that his plan is to use the 9.4 against every warlord using Reigning Fire’s weaponry. While this goal might seem noble, Martine points out that in doing so Jonah becomes a warlord himself. But as soon as Jonah is able to connect 9.4 to the Reigning Fire drones, the weapons target him. That’s because Boris has successfully reprogrammed 9.4, making Jonah the target. Jonah tries to make his escape, hopping aboard a yellow truck—the same one that Tali hid in.
The team realizes that Tali is in Jonah’s escape vehicle, so Tony and Ziva rush to save their daughter. A manic car chase through the tunnels ensues. Tony is able to rescue Tali, but Jonah seems to have an opening to escape as his men and the 9.4 come to his rescue. However, this plan is foiled as Boris (who is in the server room) successfully disables the 9.4, Jonah’s goons were taken out, and Tali kicks Jonah who is taken away by Martine. So, no. Tony and Ziva do not kill Jonah.
Jonah does die, though.
We find out later that Jonah dies by taking his own life in prison. However, it seems like Martine actually had something to do with his death given how she reacts when she finds out about her former ally’s demise.
Tiva gets their happy ending.
The season ends on as positive a note as you could hope for. The happy family are finally able to take a break after such a turbulent sequence of events. Tali is able to cope with all the trauma, with the help of a child psychologist. Boris, however, got scammed by his fiancée Fruzsi (Anne-Marie Waldeck) who ran away with all his money and assets. But, at the very least, Tony offers him a job at his security firm.
And, the moment that all Tiva shippers have been waiting for all season long has arrived. Tony and Ziva tell their daughter that they are dating again. (Eep!!) Then Tali, the mature young woman that she is, tells her parents to take it slow so they can be sure about their relationship this time around.
