Days of our Lives: Sophia’s Big Moment & Rachel Boyd’s Standout Performance Shine Bright md17

On the October 20 episode of Days of our Lives, Rachel Boyd demonstrated why she needs to be the front runner for next year’s Daytime Emmy in the Emerging Talent category. (To follow SoapHub‘s Emmy coverage, click here.) We cheered her performance, and we cheered Sophia finally letting loose on all the hypocrites around her!

Key Takeaways:

  • Sophia unloaded on her mom
  • Sophia unloaded on Tate and Holly
  • Sophia unloaded on Chanel and Johnny

My Beloved Smother

Amy (Shi Ne Nielson) did her best to keep Sophia on a short leash. Sophia let her have it about how not feeling like she had any agency over her life or her own body led to Sophia giving birth alone in her room with no one to turn to for help. Melinda (Tina Huang) listened to Sophia more than her own mother did.

We wouldn’t be surprised if Amy’s controlling tendencies were also what led to Sophia sleeping with Aaron (Louis Tomeo) and Tate (Leo Howard), desperate for someone to love – or at least listen – to her. We only hope that Sophia’s sad home life doesn’t include abuse, as we’ve speculated before.

Father Won’t Be

Now that Tate knows he isn’t Tesoro’s father, he’s acting like all his bad behavior when he thought he was, doesn’t count. Tate thought he was the father of Sophia’s unborn child when he ignored her to chase Holly (Ashley Puzemis), and he thought he was the dad when he led Sophia to believe that he wouldn’t sign the adoption papers and leave Sophia to raise a baby she didn’t want.

In addition, all Holly could do was whine about how dare Sophia try to get Holly’s boyfriend’s attention with her little doctor’s appointments, and other piddly problems. Sophia was bumming Holly out. Couldn’t she, like, get lost, or something? And now that Holly knows Tate isn’t the baby’s father, she feels even more justified in her selfish behavior.

Parental Rights

None of this would have happened if Johnny (Carson Boatman) hadn’t had a childish meltdown and backed out of the adoption. Now he and Chanel (Raven Bowens) have changed their minds, and even though they’re pretending to care about Sophia’s health, the only thing they really heard about her breakdown and selective mutism is that it might keep THEM from adopting Tesoro.

We are so happy Sophia called all of these hypocrites out today. And we hope that once she regains her power of speech she’ll do it again, over how all of them made her pain about themselves.
