The Leone-Fox Bloodline: The Shocking Link Between Fire Country and Sheriff Country md11

The hit CBS series Fire Country features a multi-generational family of firefighters, the Leones. However, the new Fire Country spin-off, Sheriff Country, primarily focuses on the Fox family — the extended family and relatives of the Leones. Viewers will recall that Sheriff Country protagonist Mickey Fox (Morena Baccarin) originally debuted during Fire Country’s second season episode, “Alert the Sheriff.” So, how does this whole Leone and Fox family tree work? We’re going to break down the entire Leone and Fox family tree from both shows!

Bode Leone

Played by Max Thieriot

Bode Leone (Max Thieriot) is the lead protagonist of Fire Country, an ex-convict seeking redemption by following in his family’s footsteps and becoming a firefighter. Bode is the son of Vince (Billy Burke) and Sharon Leone (Diane Farr), the nephew of Luke Leone (Michael Trucco), and the grandson of Walter Leone (Jeff Fahey), who are all veteran firefighters. Bode suffered from a troubled past and a battle with drug addiction, and a car accident, in which Bode was driving, led to the tragic death of his sister, Riley (Jade Pettyjohn).

Many years later, after being incarcerated due to a life of crime, Bode finally tries to turn his life around by joining an inmate firefighter camp, the Three Rock Conservation Camp, in his hometown of Edgewater. Bode’s work at the firefighter camp helps him reconnect with his family and make amends. After some ups and downs, Bode’s efforts at Three Rock earned him an early release, and he has since joined the 1508 firefighting Battalion of Edgewater, which was previously led by his father, Vince, the Battalion Chief, and his mother, Sharon, who serves as Division Chief.

Vince Leone

Played by Billy Burke

Vince Leone was the father of Bode and Riley, the son of Walter Leone, the older brother of Luke Leone, and Sharon’s husband. He was the Battalion Chief of Edgewater’s elite Battalion 1508. Vince defines salt of the Earth, and he and Sharon are pillars of the Edgewater community. He also served as a father figure to his crew, especially Jake Crawford (Jordan Calloway) and Eve Edwards (Jules Latimer), who deeply revered their chief and leader.

Sadly, Vince tragically perished in the fire that overtook Walter’s care facility during the Season 4 premiere, “Goodbye for Now.” Vince’s death leaves a gaping void in the Edgewater firefighting community and the Leone family, who have already endured multiple hardships. Vince’s exit from Fire Country will be a rough adjustment period, as he was the emotional heart and soul of the series, and Burke was easily the best actor in the cast.

Sharon Leone

Played by Diane Farr

Sharon Leone is the wife of Vince, mother of Bode and the late Riley, the sister-in-law to Luke Leone, the step-sister of Mickey Fox, and the stepdaughter of Wes Fox (W. Earl Brown). Sharon is tough as nails, a veteran firefighter, and Division Chief in Edgewater. Fire Country Season 4 picks up with the aftermath of the Zabel Ridge Fire and Vince’s tragic death, leaving Sharon completely devastated by the loss of her husband. Sharon unfairly blames Walter for pulling her out of the burning building while Vince was still inside, but in truth, he saved both of their lives and did the right thing.

Luke Leone

Played by Michael Trucco

Luke Leone is the brother of Vince, uncle to Bode and Riley, son to Walter, and brother-in-law to Sharon. Luke, like the rest of the family, is also a firefighter, and he formerly served as the North Ops Comms Director in Edgewater. When Sharon stepped away from her role as the Division Chief, Luke served as the Interim Division Chief, becoming one of the most disliked characters throughout the series. Although many people view Luke as the bad guy, he’s not the villain that fans and other characters make him out to be. He donated his kidney to Sharon and pulled strings to get Bode into the fire recruit program; Luke basically defines “not a bad guy if you give him a chance.”

Walter Leone

Played by Jeff Fahey

Jeff Fahey in Fire Country Season 3 Episode 15

Walter Leone is Vince and Luke’s father, Sharon’s father-in-law, and the grandfather to Bode and Riley. Walter’s family loves him, but he and Vince have a tumultuous relationship due to how Walter raised his sons. The impression is that Walter might have exhibited toxic behavior and was possibly abusive, as depicted in “Welcome to the Cult,” when Walter claims that Vince should have been a better parent. An infuriated Vince explains how he never wanted to pass down the “poison” of how his father raised him to his own kids.

Later in Season 3, Walter is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. After temporarily trying to live with Vince and Sharon, they ultimately moved him to an assisted living facility to help with his long-term care. Despite Walter’s dementia, Vince learned to forgive and bond with his father again in Season 3, Episode 17, “Fire and Ice,” when Vince starts making some of his mother’s old Sunday sauce recipe, helping jog Walter’s memories of Vince again after confusing him with Luke earlier in the episode. In the Season 3 finale, Walter, Sharon, and Vince are all trapped in the Buena Vista memory care facility after its roof collapses when the Zabel Ridge wildfire spreads to the building. Bode can only watch helplessly as the building explodes with his family still inside.

Mickey Fox

Debuting in the Fire Country Season 2 episode, “Alert the Sheriff,” Mickey Fox is the town sheriff of Edgewater, California, so she enforces the law of the land. Mickey is the stepsister of Fire Country alum Sharon Leone. Sharon’s currently unnamed mother married Mickey’s father, the ne’er-do-well ex-convict Wes Fox, making Sharon and Mickey only related by marriage. Mickey maintains a good relationship with her stepsister, and although they have gotten along well more recently, that was not always the case.

The sisters had their issues over the years, as Mickey once arrested her step-nephew, Bode, after the accident that claimed Riley’s life, which sent Bode’s life spiraling down a dark path. During her appearances on Fire Country, Mickey and her stepsister manage to make amends and find common ground, as they bond over Mickey’s own struggles as a mother. The straight arrow and diligent Mickey sought to raise her daughter, Skye Fraley (Amanda Arcuri), so that she would not turn out like Bode, but Skye later falls prey to drugs and addiction. In the Season 3 episode, “Dirty Money,” Mickey reveals that Skye recently relapsed and is back in rehab. The new spin-off series, Sheriff Country, will focus more on the lives of the Fox family, specifically Mickey, Wes, and Skye.

Wes Fox

Played by W. Earl Brown

Wes Fox is the unscrupulous drug-dealing father of Mickey and Skye’s (Amanda Arcuri) grandfather. Wes is first introduced in the Fire Country Season 3 episode, “Dirty Money,” which revealed that Bode was doing some part-time work on the side for Wes, clearing brush for Wes’ marijuana farm. Bode’s parole officer sternly warns him not to continue associating with Wes, or it could land him back in prison. Mickey appears to have a complicated love-hate relationship with her dad, wanting a relationship with Wes, but her career as the sheriff conflicts with his extralegal activities.

In “Dirty Money,” Mickey offers Wes an ultimatum: a relationship with her, or continue his life of crime, and Wes chooses the latter. However, the Fox family drama continues in the Sheriff Country series premiere, where it appears Wes is ready to accept his daughter’s original offer and leave his life of crime behind him. He moves in with Mickey and Skye, and he’s going strictly legit with his marijuana business. However, something tells us that Wes will either struggle to leave that life behind him or that he’s not being totally honest about it.

Skye Fraley

Morena Baccarin as Mickey standing with Chris Gorham, Amanda Arcuri and W. Earl Brown in Sheriff Country

Skye is the daughter of Travis Fraley (Christopher Gorham) and Mickey Fox, the granddaughter of Wes Fox, and the step-cousin of Bode Leone. Skye finally appears onscreen for the first time in Sheriff Country. She is a recovering drug addict who has been in and out of rehab multiple times by the time Sheriff Country debuts. Skye shares a close relationship with Bode, as she seeks his help in the series premiere. Skye’s struggles with addiction appear to be linked to her parents, lawyer Travis, and police officer Mickey, splitting up before the events of Sheriff County. It seems that Skye’s drug addiction and legal troubles will play a major role in the new show’s overall arc, depicting whether the young adult will be able to triumph over her problems and make amends with her mother.
