Now starring new leading couple Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha as Benedict Bridgerton and love interest Sophie Baek, respectively, the new season of the Shonda Rhimes-produced romance “turns its focus to bohemian second son Benedict (Thompson). During Friday’s “Season of Love” event for the show, “Bridgerton” showrunner Jess Brownell confirmed alongside Thompson and Ha that Season 4 is the “most faithful” adaptation of one of Julia Quinn’s “Bridgerton” books thus far in the Netflix series. She teased that specific plot points pulled from Benedict’s book, “An Offer From A Gentleman,” will include the fan-favorite masquerade ball (which Brownell says will make up the majority of the Season 4 premiere episode), the “my cottage” moments and the iconic lake scene.

And after that lunch, I went home and I literally wrote in my journal, I actually looked it up. This girl is a spitfire. She will lay you out with the truth up, down in sideways.

Thompson, Ha and Brownell also say that Season 4 will dive much more into the Regency era’s upstairs-downstairs class politics than previous seasons, due to Sophie being of a lower class than Benedict and the Bridgerton family, as well as the fairytale and forbidden love tropes.

The fourth season, is currently in production in London. No premiere date has been set for Season 4, which consists of eight episodes.

“Bridgerton” Season 3, which was released in two parts on Netflix between May and June 2024, focused on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan). Season 2 was centered on Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) and Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley), and the debut installment followed Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page).

Brownell says that Kate and Anthony and Colin and Penelope will return for Season 4, this time as new parents with their respective babies in tow.

Along with Thompson and Ha, “Bridgerton” Season 4 stars Jonathan Bailey (Anthony Bridgerton), Victor Alli (Lord John Stirling), Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury), Julie Andrews (Lady Whistledown), Lorraine Ashbourne (Mrs. Varley), Masali Baduza (Michaela Stirling), Nicola Coughlan (Penelope Bridgerton), Hannah Dodd (Francesca Stirling), Daniel Francis (Lord Marcus Anderson), Ruth Gemmell (Violet Bridgerton), Florence Hunt (Hyacinth Bridgerton), Martins Imhangbe (Will Mondrich), Claudia Jessie (Eloise Bridgerton), Luke Newton (Colin Bridgerton), Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte), Will Tilston (Gregory Bridgerton), Polly Walker (Portia Featherington), Emma Naomi (Alice Mondrich) and Hugh Sachs (Brimsley).

Additional cast includes Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley), Isabella Wei (Posy Li), Michelle Mao (Rosamund Li), and Katie Leung (Lady Araminta Gun).

The series is executive produced by showrunner Brownell alongside Rhimes, Betsy Beers, Tom Verica and creator Chris Van Dusen.
