“We believe a reboot can and should exist once the strike ends.”
Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik has confirmed she is “hoping to reboot” her ’90s sitcom Blossom – with a twist.
Bialik has been open about her hopes for a reboot of the classic sitcom that made her a star when she was just a teenager and now the Big Bang Theory actress has confirmed a reboot is on the cards.
“I’m happy to tell you that, yes, it’s true,” Bialik said in an interview with Vanity Fair. “All of the cast and the original creator and producers are on board, and we believe a reboot can and should exist once the strike ends.”
According to Bialik, the reboot will change a few things moving away from a sitcom format to a more serious drama.
“We’re hoping to reboot it not as a sitcom, though,” she added. ” We want to bring back these interesting, deep characters — a child of divorce, a recovering drug addict, an alcoholic — to see them in a whole new way.”
It’s not the first time Bialik has spoken about bringing the show back, back in 2021 she opened up about her and Blossom creator Don Reo’s hopes for a revival.
“I may just start a grassroots fan campaign to see if we can do it because we absolutely would love people to see where these characters are,” Bialik told Entertainment Weekly.
“[Reo] and I talked about it and we kind of decided after literally years of trying to work on this that I would probably just say it out loud. We do have a well-formed idea and we would love someone to let us do it.”
Starring Bialik alongside Joey Lawrence, Jenna Von Oy, and Michael Stoyanov, Blossom followed the life of fashionable teenager Blossom Russo (played by Bialik) who lived with her single father and two brothers.
