FBI showrunner Mike Weiss has confirmed when Isobel’s fate in season 8 will be revealed, detailing how long the upcoming wait is going to be. FBI season 7 ended with Isobel collapsing in the middle of a speech, brought about by injuries sustained during an explosive attack. She didn’t have a pulse, leaving her fate in season 8 unclear.
Speaking with TVLine, Weiss confirmed that FBI season 8 will begin not long after Isobel’s collapse, rejoining the team just three days later. However, he remains unspecific about when in the episode Isobel’s fate will be revealed. He said it’s important for audiences to feel the extent of the damage done during the attack, not revealing when she’ll be addressed:
That’s a great question, and we answer it in dialogue in the premiere — three days. We wanted it to feel like, in TV parlance, a direct pick-up.

Weiss also revealed that FBI season 8 will be returning with a big case following the betrayals and lack of trust that happened at the end of season 7. This means the whole team is going to be on edge heading into the next batch of episodes, with Isobel’s collapse being just one stressor everyone will be dealing with.
Since it’s unclear when Isobel’s fate will be revealed, she could show up anywhere between the start and end of the season 8 premiere. The cast of FBI is undergoing some major changes, too, with Juliana Aidén Martinez joining in the wake of Lisette Olivera exiting as Syd Ortiz. It makes for a packed start that will define the season.
As of writing, there’s no indication yet whether Isobel is going to survive, or if she’s going to succumb to her injuries. She wasn’t breathing the last time she was seen, meaning she needed immediate medical attention if she was to pull through. It makes sense for Isobel’s fate to be withheld somewhat in FBI season 8, especially given how dire the situation was at the end of season 7. By keeping her fate somewhat under wraps and potentially not knowing for some time, it seems Weiss is determined to keep her next appearance mostly under wraps until the series returns.
As for what’s most likely to happen to her, it’s possible she’s still going to need medical treatment if she survives, meaning she’s probably not going back into the field right away. The extent of her injuries is currently unclear, but if she’s alive when FBI returns, chances are high she’ll pull through what happened and come back strong.
