Yellowstone star Ian Bohen and Shadowhunters Katherine McNamara have been cast in a new movie, Air Force One Down.
Details about the action thriller are being kept under wraps, but the writer-producer Steven Paul has teased that it offers a “new twist on the saving of the President theme” as seen in movies such as Olympus Has Fallen and White House Down.
Bohen and McNamara’s roles in the upcoming project are yet to be confirmed, but they will appear alongside Halloween Kill’s Anthony Michael Hall, Orange is the New Black’s Dascha Polanco and Mission: Impossible II star Rade Serbedzija.
While the title draws parallels to Harrison Ford’s 1997 political action movie, Air Force One, it appears the two movies are unrelated.
Arrow’s James Bamford has taken the helm as director on the Paramount movie, that wrapped back in March and is set to have a 2024 release date.
It comes ahead of Bohen’s return to Yellowstone for the final episodes that are set to air later this year, before a new spin-off series joins the Taylor Sheridan universe.
The Dutton family’s story will be revisited in a new series, after the success of 1883 and 1923 the other spin-offs from the main show.
Chris McCarthy, president and CEO Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studio said about the news: “Yellowstone has been the cornerstone on which we have launched an entire universe of global hits — from 1883 to Tulsa King.
“I am confident our Yellowstone sequel will be another big hit, thanks to the brilliant creative mind of Taylor Sheridan and our incredible casts who bring these shows to life.”
Yellowstone season five airs on Paramount+ in the US and Canada, with episodes available to stream the next day in the UK and Australia.
