Watching NCIS: Tony & Ziva has started to become a struggle as it continues to ignore the perfect chance to bring back Abby Sciuto. The NCIS franchise’s latest spinoff enters its final stretch with “We’ve Got Company” — an episode that shifts its focus from its titular character to their daughter — Tali.
After the twist-laden story of NCIS: Tony & Ziva episode 5, which also included the shocking death of Henry, the spinoff spends its latest hour highlighting how things have been for Tali and Sophie. While Tony and Ziva have been dealing with Martine and Markham, their daughter spends the last several days in a cabin where they once went on a family trip.
Besides dealing with the aftermath of Henry’s death, Tali’s survival after her reunion with her parents becomes NCIS: Tony & Ziva’s main concern. As great as Sophie has been, the crisis paves the best opportunity for Abby’s comeback.
Sending Tali To Abby Would Be The Safest Option For Tony & Ziva’s Daughter
NCIS: Tony & Ziva’s story takes place across Europe, with the titular couple crossing multiple borders and visiting various countries. As their conflict with Markham becomes more dangerous, it’s arguably best to send Tali as far as possible and to someone that they both implicitly trust — Abby.
Pauley Perrette’s character moved to London after Clayton Reeves died, where she started a charity in his honor. It’s safe to assume that Abby is still in the U.K. at this point, making her a plausible option for Tali’s hiding place as her parents deal with the crisis brought by Markham and Martine in Europe.
Beyond the logistics and their history with Abby, sending Tali to the former NCIS forensic scientist also decreases the chances of Markham getting to their daughter. Nothing connects her to Tony’s security agency in Europe, not to mention that Abby is a computer whiz herself, so she could also help in cracking the main mystery of NCIS: Tony & Ziva.
Why Tony & Ziva Can’t Easily Bring Back Abby
While NCIS: Tony & Ziva has a clear narrative opening to bring back Abby, the main challenge to make this a reality is Perrette’s relationship with NCIS. It’s no secret that her exit from the procedural was nothing short of tumultuous, considering her rift with Mark Harmon. The good news is that the veteran actor is not tied to Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo’s spinoff.
If, somehow, NCIS: Tony & Ziva still can’t convince Perrette to return even for a cameo, they could still incorporate her into the story. Ducky’s sendoff in NCIS season 21 featured a reference to Abby, establishing her continued relationship with her former MCRT co-workers. Perhaps Tali and Sophie can be sent to her without needing a physical appearance from Perrette.
