Gerry Turner has teased there could be exciting “things to come” in his future after fan backlash upon visiting a nursing home.
Golden Bachelor star Gerry Turner has hinted there could be more on the horizon for him following a nursing home visit that didn’t sit right with everyone.
The ABC TV personality took to Instagram to share a picture of himself in a gold suit on the front of a magazine cover with the title “For Your Emmy Consideration…The Golden Bachelor”.
Above this, there is a quote in bold reading “history-making”, as well as smaller captions stating the show won best reality series AARP Movies for Grownups Award, and was nominated for best reality program at the DSGA Awards.
In the caption, Gerry simply questioned: “Is this a hint of things to come? We are open to possibilities.”
Many of his 158,000 followers took to the comments section to congratulate Gerry and share their love for The Golden Bachelor.
One fan commented: “What a nice, thoughtful, civilized and fun loving group of people. It was a pleasure to watch!”
“This was in my opinion, the best of all the Bachelor franchise shows! I loved it!”, a second agreed.
Another wrote: “You and your wife made history my friend! The BEST kind!”, while others labelled it as “truly the best Bachelor series”.
The outpouring of support comes after Gerry’s second most recent post which shared his trip to his local nursing home.
Gerry, the first ever Golden Bachelor, posted several pictures from the wholesome day visiting elderly residents and shared a note that one of them had given him.
It read: “Thank you so much for coming in and spending the afternoon with us. Our residents and staff enjoyed meeting you and enjoyed learning about your experiences on The Bachelor.
“You brought so much joy and even more smiles to our faces. Some are still talking about it to this day! Thank you for taking the time we will certainly remember that day forever!”
But it was Gerry’s caption which got some fans blood boiling as he wrote how his visit “brought smiles to about 35 faces that looked like they hadn’t seen a good day in years.”
This didn’t sit well with all of his followers with some accusing him of acting “pompous”.
“Who do you think you are! Remember that you aren’t much younger than these lovely ladies. Celebrity has gone to your head!”, someone said.
Another follower agreed: “Gerry – while it was a very kind thing that you visited these wonderful people, your post is an insult to the staff and the facility.
“You said the residents looked like they hadn’t had a good day in years, which implies that they are not well cared for and are not made to be content. Shame on you!!”
