Golden Bachelor star Gerry Turner has confessed he had to get an STD test before joining the show.

In a recent interview with Access Hollywood, Gerry shared that prior to filming the dating series, producers required him to undergo testing, reports Yahoo.

Turner recounted receiving a call while on vacation in February instructing him to immediately visit a clinic for an STD test.

When asked by TV host Kit Hoover if he understood the request, Turner admitted it took him a moment to grasp the purpose.

While the testing may seem like an unusual requirement for reality TV contestants, reports claim that several potential participants of The Bachelor were disqualified due to testing positive for herpes during the screening process, per the New York Post.

In other news, ABC is set to host a casting call for the upcoming season of The Golden Bachelorette.

The show will feature one of the original 22 senior women from The Golden Bachelor searching for love among a group of America’s eligible senior men.

The casting team is specifically seeking men aged 60 and above for the show and will conduct in-person interviews on March 16 from noon to 4 pm at The River, located at 71-800 Highway 111, Rancho Mirage.

While the final selection is pending, the frontrunners for the Bachelorette role appear to be Joan Vassos, a 61-year-old private school administrator from Rockville, Maryland, and Leslie Fhima, a 65-year-old personal fitness trainer from Minneapolis and former Golden Bachelor contestant who expressed heartbreak over Gerry’s choice of Theresa as the winner.
