7 Secrets About Days of Our Lives’ Conner Floyd That Will Surprise Fans

That old saying, “When one door closes, another opens,” really resonates with Conner Floyd. A few short weeks after learning he was being killed off The Young and the Restless as Phillip “Chance” Chancellor IV, he landed the pivotal role of Chad DiMera on Days of our Lives.

Once again, he’s a recast. Floyd was the fourth actor to play Chance, and is the third to portray Chad. So he knows the drill and is up to the task.

Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Floyd moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career after college. He landed a string of TV movies, including Malicious MotivesA Kiss on Candy Cane Lane, and Help Wanted, and appeared in several independent films before embarking on the daytime world.

1. He attended the University of Tulsa and played on the Golden Hurricane, the school’s football team. He was a three-year letter winner playing both wide receiver and punt returner.

2. Floyd never went to theater school. He took a year of acting and film study in college, and credits his experience on Y&R as his acting school. It’s where he fine-tuned his skills as a performer.

3. He’s a major hard fan of Beastie Boys, the American hip hop and rap rock group. His father got him hooked on their music when he was really young.

4.Floyd got to work with Billy Flynn, who he’s replacing on DAYS and recently joined the Y&R cast as Cane Ashby, before he was killed off as Chance. “Getting to work with Billy was nuts,” noted Floyd during a video interview with JLJ Media. “He was very helpful in this whole process of just transitioning over [to DAYS]. He gave me the rundown of how things work, schedule, who to hang out with…”

5. He ran the 2024 LA Marathon, as part of Court’s Crew in partnership with [Siteman Cancer Center], to raise money for pancreatic cancer research. The results were stupendous. Their goal was $20,000, but they brought in $30,000. “Thank you to everyone who donated, everyone who came to the raffle, and everyone who supported us at the race,” Floyd shared on Instagram. “We did this for those affected by pancreatic cancer. We are in this together. No one runs alone!!”

6. Floyd is engaged. He popped the question to his longtime girlfriend, Carly Frei, in her hometown of Boston in December 2024. He got down on one knee at the Boston Commons, which “was covered with snow and the perfect venue for the proposal,” he told People magazine. “It was a struggle to get her to walk through the park in 25-degree weather, but we made it happen.” Afterwards, the happy couple celebrated with family at an engagement party.

7. In his spare time Floyd enjoys filmmaking, playing guitar, watching football, and enjoying the outdoors.
