The conclusion to the Dutton saga is coming.
Yellowstone has officially resumed production on Season 5 to bring the final episodes of the hit Western show to screens this November.
Paramount Network confirmed on May 20 that filming on the second half of the fifth season of Yellowstone is underway in Montana, per Variety. The first half, comprising eight episodes, aired between November 2022 and January 2023, with the final batch of six episodes slated to debut in November 2024.
The network did not intend for the gap between Part 1 and Part 2 of Season 5 to be so long. The final episodes were supposed to come out last year, but Yellowstone was one of many productions impacted by the dual writers’ and actors’ strikes, with the cast and crew not managing to get back to shooting a conclusion until now.
Reports also surfaced last year to suggest that Yellowstone star Kevin Costner would exit the series due to scheduling conflicts, with his two-part Western epic Horizon: An American Saga landing two release dates for 2024. The first part will hit theaters on June 28, and the second part will follow on August 16.
Shows to Watch If You Like Yellowstone
Costner reportedly told the crowd at the Cannes Film Festival that they should expect an additional two films in the saga — but Paramount is also not riding off into the sunset after Yellowstone Season 5 concludes. The network has already greenlit two spinoffs with the working titles of 1944 (a prequel) and 2024 (a sequel).
Yellowstone first premiered in 2018 and quickly became a runaway hit, but it has managed to maintain its popularity as people found themselves invested in the Dutton family saga. The fifth season broke multiple records, with its first episode accruing 12.1 million viewers to become the top scripted series premiere of 2022.
The series chronicles the lives of the Dutton family, led by John Dutton (Kevin Costner), who controls the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the United States. Drama and political intrigue ensue as the ranch faces conflict with those it borders — an expanding town, an Indian reservation, and America’s first national park.
All episodes of Yellowstone are available to stream with a Peacock subscription. Season 5, Part 2, will premiere in November.
