This great ‘The Big Bang Theory’ star was suddenly fired just before the start of the series, but fortunately he was hired again

The Big Bang Theory is perhaps the most successful sitcom of recent years. However, the start of the series was not entirely without difficulties.

In the run-up to the start of the series, network CBS had its reservations about The Big Bang Theory. In the beginning, they required the necessary adjustments to the pilot to continue with the series.

Creative freedom

But Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, the creators of the series, were not willing to completely give up all their creative freedom. In addition to the replacement of the character Katie by Penny, see also here, there was another issue at the beginning.

Kunal Nayyar was cast as Rajesh Koothrappali but CBS representatives disagreed. They fired the actor and simply did not invite him to the filming. Chuck Lorre later recalled the events of that day in the book The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series by Jessica Radloff.

Furious

“I was furious. I called the executives at CBS and said, ‘You can’t fire him. I cast him, I believe in him, I take responsibility for this decision. He is my husband.'”. Fortunately, the actor did not disappoint and Nayyar was one of the audience favorites from the start.
