Fan-Favorite ‘X-Files’ Alum Returns to Firehouse 51 in Chicago Fire Season 14

Firehouse 51 makes a charged return to small screens very soon after five months away, and fans are so ready! Chicago Fire Season 14 premieres on October 1, 2025, and with it comes an X-Files alum — the latest star to join the hit procedural. Just this week, fans have already gotten a glimpse at what’s to come courtesy of first looks and a teaser trailer from NBC, hinting at more rescues and harrowing twists and turns on the way.

Speaking of the new Chicago Fire addition, we can confirm that Annabeth Gish will guest star in a multi-episode arc as the mayor’s chief of staff, Annette Davis. You may remember Gish from The X-Files, where she portrayed Special Agent Monica Reyes and which aired from September 10, 1993, to May 19, 2002, on Fox. The actress will now first appear in the Wednesday, October 1, premiere of Chicago Fire, playing a significant role in Firehouse 51’s future, particularly due to the budget cuts that were introduced last season.

Will Annabeth Gish Be a Villain in ‘Chicago Fire’ Season 14?

The budget cuts were introduced toward the end of Chicago Fire Season 13, and because of those, Firehouse 51’s chief, Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney), may have to charm Gish’s character. Violet (Hanako Greensmith) will also have her hands full “to manage all the ambo calls” due to these cuts, as recently teased by showrunner Andrea Newman. The medics, including Novak (Jocelyn Hudon) and Rescue Squad’s Capp (Randy Flagler), will be helping out, having to cover more ground due to firehouses closing.

Not just them, though, but everyone will be affected at the firehouse in the new season, indicating a “real shakeup” ahead. Newman further revealed that that’s where Gish’s character comes in, saying, “We’re not so sure about her intentions right off the bat. She’s a bit of a mystery.” The EP also touched on Annette’s (Gish) relationship with Pascal (Mulroney) in Chicago Fire Season 14, describing it as “very complicated.” “It’s an interesting dynamic that she will have with Pascal,” the showrunner teased, and while they don’t have history together, “they will.”
