Gordon Ramsay Revives Hell’s Kitchen in the UK — Is Your City Next?

Hell’s Kitchen is rumoured to be making a comeback next year, more than ten years after it finished in Britain. Gordon Ramsay is reportedly preparing to revive the cooking competition after the format’s triumph in other countries.

Presented by Ramsay, now 58, the programme first aired on ITV in 2004. The inaugural series included famous participants such as Amanda Barrie. The celebrity chef subsequently departed the programme, which carried on for a further three series, including one featuring ordinary members of the public, before concluding in 2009, reports the Mirror.

After leaving the British version, Ramsay launched Hell’s Kitchen in America on Fox in 2005. He has remained with that overseas edition, which wrapped up its twenty-third series earlier this year, ever since.

There were reports last year that Ramsay was in discussions about returning with a British revival of the programme.

It has now been suggested that he might resurrect Hell’s Kitchen next year, with hints that he is anticipated to take on the head chef role once more. He is also reportedly contemplating establishing restaurants bearing the show’s title in Britain, mirroring comparable enterprises across the Atlantic.

A source revealed to the Sun: “Fans of the show will be doubly thrilled by the prospect of the competition coming back and being able to dine in a Hell’s Kitchen restaurant over here. Business-savvy Gordon has watched as the popularity of Hell’s Kitchen in the US has helped bring in thousands of customers to his restaurants.”

The source described it as a “smart move”. They explained: “The programme is broadcast in more than 100 countries around the world, so between tourists visiting Britain and developing a whole new audience for the telly contest in the UK, it’s an incredibly smart move on his part.”

On 27th January this year, Ramsay secured a trademark for the Hell’s Kitchen brand in the UK, enabling its use in restaurants alongside entertainment purposes and audio-visual recordings. The trademark was officially registered on 18th April and is due for renewal on 27th January 2035.

This indicates they could launch immediately following the show’s return to ITV.

This would mirror the previous establishment of a US chain carrying the Hell’s Kitchen brand during the programme’s American success. Ramsay launched the inaugural restaurant in Las Vegas during 2018.

That venue, billed as the globe’s first Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen establishment, sits opposite Caesars Palace. The restaurant accommodates over 300 diners.

According to its website, the venue – featuring red and blue kitchens that mirror the programme’s team divisions – takes “inspiration” from the television series. It guarantees that “guests will feel like they are on the studio set”.

Ramsay has subsequently opened numerous additional Hell’s Kitchen establishments throughout America. Further locations encompass Atlantic City, Miami and Washington D.C. In a statement on the restaurant’s website, chef Ramsay hinted at a sense of “nostalgia” in his Hell’s Kitchen concept.
