Days of Our Lives fans are not the only ones interested in another appearance of Ben Weston, as his portrayer Robert Scott Wilson shares his interest in revisiting his popular role.
The actor portrayed Ben from 2014 through 2022, but when his co-star Victoria Konefal left the series the decision was made to write Ben and his love interest Ciara off. He then began portraying his current role on the soap opera Alex Kiriakis.
Earlier this year fans were disappointed when Ciara returned without her husband Ben. The fan favorite star shared that Ben was left home while Ciara returned to visit with her father Bo Brady (Peter Reckell) who has previously been presumed dead and recently awoken from a coma.
Wilson told Soaps.com in a recent interview that he thinks it would be fun to bring his original character back to town and even thinks the two could share scenes together. The actor said, “I would love for that to happen in terms of Ben truly meeting Alex. I think it would just be really great to have that moment more than anything. And who knows? It could be really funny. Who knows? But I think there could be something there.”
The actor would join a list of actors who have played dual roles on Days of Our Lives and is excited about the thought. “You know, I think the opportunity to just play two roles at the same time would be great.” The actor does have one concern when it comes to bringing both characters face to face in Salem adding, “Except for my sleep schedule would be a mess. I would not do well.”
Wilson started his soap career on the Prospect Park reboot of All My Children in 2013 as Peter Cortlandt. He then proceeded to join Days of Our Lives as Ben Weston taking over the role from Justin Gaston. He crossed his character of Ben over to the Peacock spinoff Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem.
This moment may have happened back in 2023, as writer Jamey Giddens hinted at the original draft for Victor Kirakis (John Aniston) funeral. In a response to a fan questioning why Chelsea would get a line about Bo battling his Brady/Kirakis sides, Giddens shared, “Because Chelsea’s lines were written for Ciara, who had a scheduling conflict, so Chelsea was swapped in with a few quick changes. It’s also why Alex started the show. It was meant to be a wink to Cin when Ciara met her cousin Alex. Also, there is a cast limit. #DAYS” He then continued to explain a few other differences that occurred between the original draft and what was filmed, adding, “In the O.G. draft, Theresa started ragging on Ben for killing her niece, causing Ciara to defend her husband, saying Ben “wasn’t that person anymore.” Hold on wink-wink nudge nudge look betwixt Alex and Ciara. #DAYS”
Fans will have to stay tuned to see if Wilson’s dream of having his two characters meet will ever become a reality.
