CBS’ hit procedural drama, Tracker, is set to return for its third season come October and fans of the world’s famous rewardist, Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley), cannot wait to see what new adventures will be embarked upon this time around. One major part of Colter’s story involves his family and the many secrets that surround his parents. Central to that story is his elder brother, Russell, played by Supernatural’s Dean Winchester, Jensen Ackles. Despite his involvement in a number of other high-profile projects, Ackles will return for the third season of the CBS drama and a new image confirms that.
TVLine has revealed the first image of Ackles’ as Russell in the coming season of Tracker. The image also features his onscreen sibling, Hartley, as Colter. Also, alongside the image, it has been confirmed that Ackles will appear in the Season 3 premiere, which will be a two-parter with Ackles appearing in both. Ackles’ Russell has appeared in two episodes of Tracker so far, with appearances in both previous seasons. While their family secrets still require resolution, the Season 3 logline reveals the Shaw brothers will be teaming up to help someone else in need:
“As Colter grapples with the shocking truth surrounding his father’s death, Russell joins forces with his brother to help track down the missing wife and daughter of one of Reenie’s clients. Their reunion finds them mixed up in a chain of events involving a sinister underground operation known as ‘The Process.”
‘Tracker’ Season 3 Will Experience Several Shake-Ups
As revealed in the logline, Colter’s legal aide, Reenie (Fiona Rene), will be making a return and one hopes that her latest client is less shady than Leo Sharf. Like in previous seasons, the coming installment of Tracker will likely see Colter spend his days tracking down missing people from cases that have seemingly gone cold. Also, there is hope that the story will also look to shed more light on the web of secrets that involves the Shaw family and encompasses the parents, Mary Dove Shaw (Wendy Crewson) and Ashton Shaw (Lee Tergesen). Furthermore, how Colter approaches the revelation that his mother was responsible for his father’s murder will also be interesting to see.
When Tracker Season 3 returns, there will be a sea of change in terms of the returning cast. While Melissa Roxburgh returns as Dory, the cast will be missing Abby McEnany and Eric Graise, who now join Robin Weigert in departing the series. This leaves Rene as the only returning member of Colter’s inner circle when the show began in Season 1. Ahead of the new season, though, the procedural has found itself a new streaming platform to call home, taking a slot on Hulu, albeit on a temporary basis.
