Curious why Martha Madison is weighing in on Belle and EJ’s future on Days of Our Lives? Her comments began trending after a recent interview revealed she doesn’t see a path to reconciliation for the pair. Madison’s remarks stem from EJ’s betrayal in Johnny’s trial and the fallout that shattered Belle’s trust.
Here’s what she revealed about Belle and EJ’s breakup, the role of trust, and the ripple effects in Salem.
Martha Madison doesn’t think EJ can ever win Belle back on Days of Our Lives
Martha Madison told Soaps.com in an exclusive interview that she does not believe EJ can ever win Belle back on Days of Our Lives.
When asked directly about the possibility of reconciliation, Madison stated, “I don’t think so,” emphasizing the seriousness of his betrayal. She explained, “The story is going to be told, but I think this is a very clear line in the sand.”
The breakdown of Belle and EJ’s relationship came after EJ’s actions in the courtroom, where he jeopardized Belle’s career and reputation. Madison said, “You know, he was willing to destroy her career, her reputation, to throw innocent people under the bus. I mean, that’s as low as you can go.” She noted that while Belle had endured past troubles with EJ, the final blow was a matter of broken trust.
According to Madison, trust is the central issue that ended their romance. “[Belle was OK] with all of these events that happened in years past, but I think for her, trust is everything, and she can’t trust him. So, that’s it for her.” This aligns with comments from Dan Feuerriegel, who plays EJ, acknowledging in a separate interview that “Belle is more conscientious and has a much better sense of morality than EJ,” which created an inevitable clash between the characters.
Although the trial concluded with Johnny’s exoneration and Kristen’s confession, the aftermath will continue to impact Salem. Madison explained, “The reason I love this story so much is because everyone has a very clear point of view and everyone’s interests are kind of intersecting.”
She further teased, “Everybody’s relationships change through this story. And I think that’s why it’s so good.”
