Austin Stowell as Leroy Jethro Gibbs – Returning!
Austin Stowell will obviously be returning as the young version of Leroy Jethro Gibbs!
In a recent interview with Deadline, he opened up about playing the iconic role created by Mark Harmon: “I was scared for so many reasons. There were just so many first times. For me, it was the first time doing a network TV show, first time playing a character that had already been portrayed before me, first time to be number one on a call sheet.”
He added, “I’m someone who likes pressure; I like to be put in that situation. I want the ball in my hands at the bottom of the ninth. I feel like I do thrive in that situation. But I don’t think I’ll ever quite get comfortable because, at the end of the day, Gibbs will always be Mark Harmon’s character, and I’m playing the younger version of that.”
Kyle Schmid as Mike Franks – Returning!
Kyle should be back for season 2! He was seen in a photo promoting season 2, so that’s proof enough for fans! Franks is also a character from the original NCIS series as well, if you aren’t aware.
Kyle posted how grateful he was to land this role just a few weeks ago in Instagram, writing, “It’s been a 30 year journey. Along the way I’ve met so many inspiring people that have guided me along the way. Grateful for this moment. Soaking it up. I love this show, I love this character and I love this family. Thank you.”
Tyla Abercrumbie as Mary Jo Hayes – Returning!
Tyla Abercrumbie has shared that she will be returning as Mary Jo Hayes for season two!
In a post on Instagram, she posed with co-star Kyle Schmid and wrote as the caption to the photo, “Mary Jo – Frank’s – NCISO – the team is back 10/14!!!”
This indicates she’ll be back for season two!
Diany Rodriguez as Vera Strickland – Returning!
Diany Rodriguez confirmed she’ll be back as Vera for season two!
She posted on Instagram, “GUESSS WHO’S BAAAAAAACK!!!! #VeraStrickland If youre not new here, you know how difficult it is for me to share my wins… especially in times such as these. I’m doing it though. I’m doing it because it is precisely THESE wins, that allow me to be the member of my community I long to be. I’m a series regular on a network tv and we’re going on season two. Whew. If you know how vocally political I am, you know that’s not only a testament to my community, but also THE PEOPLE WHO EMPLOY ME. Specifically: I thank David and Gina (our showrunners) for seeing something in me and my ability to help them tell their stories, that I don’t necessarily see in myself. ❤️ LET’S GO SEASON TWO OF NCIS: ORIGINS.”
Caleb Foote as Bernard “Randy” Randolf – Returning!
Caleb Foote started out as a recurring star for season 1, where he portrays NIS Special Agent Bernard ‘Randy’ Randolf. Then, he was upped to series regular as the season plugged away.
Caleb seemingly confirmed he’d be back for season two, writing, “Playing Randy has been an absolute joy. I’m truly honored to be part of this world and this incredible team. Thank you for coming along for the ride — see you all next fall!”
Mariel Molino as Lala Dominguez – Returning, But Fate Uncertain
In the NCIS: Origins season 1 finale, Lala Dominguez sacrificed her career to protect Gibbs, then raced to share the news…only to crash her car in a devastating accident. Her fate was left uncertain.
Now, co-showrunner Gina Lucita Monreal is confirming Mariel Molino has been back on set…but it may not mean she survives.
Gina told TVLine, “I can confirm that Mariel has been on set with us. I think it’s fair to say you will see her in the show, but how you will see her remains a mystery. And what her fate actually is remains a mystery.”
Mariel herself told Deadline, “If she is [alive], I hope that finally something happens with Lala and Gibbs. You know what I mean, come on, either kiss me or don’t.”
