Although she was all smiles and very in the moment during her televised wedding to Gerry Turner, Theresa Nist allegedly felt pressure to go through the big event.
A source close to the Golden Bachelor final rose winner told Life & Style that she had some reservations when it came to marrying Turner. Among the concerns was his previous lying about a past relationship.
“In a way, Theresa felt like she had to go through with the wedding because the whole world was watching,” the insider explained. “And she was hopeful, she thought she could get past that initial [past relationship] lie.”
Gerry previously stated he hadn’t been in a relationship since his wife Toni died in 2017. He had made the same claim throughout the first season of the Golden Bachelor. However, right before the season finale, an ex-girlfriend of his revealed that they began dating a month after Toni passed away.
They were on and off for three years. They even moved in together.
“The idea that I’d go out with a recent widower just mortifies me,” the ex-girlfriend, identified as Carolyn, said. “I just didn’t see it. Until I went back and looked at my text messages, I never realized Gerry’s texts had turned how and heavy so relatively soon.”
Carolyn also admitted to being flabbergasted when Gerry told the Golden Bachelor contestants he hadn’t dated since becoming a widower.
After that incident, Theresa allegedly became suspicious of Gerry. “Theresa feels like she was duped,” the source continued. “And so do the other women that fell in love with Gerry.”
Theresa and Gerry were married on Jan. 4. However, just three months after the televised wedding, the couple announced they had called it quits. They had been living separately from each other during the short-lived marriage.
