Daniel Kyri has officially announced that he is leaving the hit drama Chicago Fire after seven years in the role of firefighter Darren Ritter. Fans will see him one last time when he returns for a brief appearance in Season 14, set to air this fall, before saying goodbye for good.
On Instagram, Kyri reflected on the journey: “I filmed my last scenes as Ritter. I’m still so amazed that my first-ever TV gig — a role that was originally meant for just three episodes — turned into seven incredible years.”
Ritter first joined Chicago Fire as a young, determined firefighter who quickly earned the trust and admiration of his colleagues at Firehouse 51. Over the years, he became a fan favorite, known for his bravery, warmth, and strong sense of teamwork. His presence brought heart, humor, and humanity to the show’s intense rescues and emotional storylines.
Kyri’s departure marks a significant change for Chicago Fire as it enters its next chapter with a reshaped cast. Still, viewers will get a final chance to see Ritter in action before the firehouse doors close on his story for good.
