Chad Michael Murray is having the kind of career moment most actors dream about — one that’s equal parts box office triumph and streaming dominance.
Fresh off the surprise hit Freakier Friday, the 43-year-old star has also found a home in one of Netflix’s most charming imports: Sullivan’s Crossing.
From CTV to Netflix Stardom
Originally premiering on CTV in March 2023 and later airing on The CW in the United States, Sullivan’s Crossing finally landed on Netflix earlier this year — and the gamble paid off. All three seasons are now available on the streamer, with Season 3 dropping August 11 and quickly climbing into the U.S. Top 10.
For Virgin River fans, the show offers a similar small-town comfort — no coincidence, given that both series spring from the imagination of author Robyn Carr.
The Role He Manifested
Speaking to People, Murray revealed that he’d “prayed every single night” for two years for a project like this.
“I wanted a show that didn’t feel gratuitous, that was very family-friendly,” he said. “Something in a beautiful location where my family and I could integrate into the community … with a cast we’d all bond with.”
That wish came true in Sullivan’s Crossing, filmed against the sweeping Canadian landscape and built on a foundation of heartfelt relationships.
A Future in the Crossing?
While Murray has yet to confirm how many more seasons he’ll stay, his enthusiasm for the series suggests he’s far from done. With Netflix now expanding the show’s global audience and Virgin River proving how deeply fans invest in slow-burn, heart-centered dramas, Sullivan’s Crossing could be at the start of its own long run.
For Chad Michael Murray, it’s more than a job — it’s a role that feels like home.
