Chicago Fire Fan-Favorite Who Left May Be Coming Back Sooner Than You Think

Season 13 of “Chicago Fire” saw some serious cast changes that left fans questioning, but it appears at least one of them may not be permanent.

Daniel Kyri, who plays Darren Ritter on the hit NBC show, teased numerous photos on his Instagram account indicating what could mean a return for Season 14, despite his character appearing to have exited the show.

“Back! For a limited time only,” a photo showing Kyri and two of his ‘Chicago Fire’ co-stars on his Instagram story was captioned.

Another image showed Kyri in a photo alongside several of his castmates wearing their fire gear in front of a firetruck.

Kyri was among multiple big exits in the last season, having starred on the show for seven seasons.

Reports had previously indicated both he and Jake Lockett, who played Sam Carver on the show, would not be returning for the upcoming season.

But show runners had left the doors open for Lockett’s return too.

“We may not have Carver full-time next season, but we may have him for a bunch of it too, and I think there’s a lot left to figure out between [Violet and Carver],” showrunner Andrea Newman told NBC Insider.

Lockett addressed his departure on social media weeks before the finale aired.

“While I don’t exactly know what the future looks like, I do know that it won’t be exactly what it was and I am going to miss the hell out of that. So much pride in this journey,” he wrote on Instagram. “It’s been an honor bringing Sam to life and to every one of you, thank you for the love and support over the past three years. And most importantly, the people that I was on the ground with day and night… thank you for the family you are and times you have been and will be there for me. If you’re not in one of these clips, there will be more to follow. So many cherished memories.”

“Chicago Fire” is no stranger to cast changes — and returns.

Season 12 of the hit “One Chicago” show saw one of the biggest cast departures to date as Chief Wallace Boden, played by Eamonn Walker, got a promotion that saw him leaving the hit show. Still, even he saw a brief return during Season 13.

Season 14 of “Chicago Fire” is set to premiere at 8 p.m. CT on Oct. 1 on NBC.
