Firehouse 51 is about to meet a newcomer who’s charming, complicated… and not so easy to read!
NBC has officially confirmed that Brandon Larracuente will join Chicago Fire Season 14 as a series regular, playing Sal Vasquez — a charismatic firefighter with deep family ties to the first responder world. But according to showrunner Andrea Newman, Vasquez isn’t just another recruit.
“Like Severide, this character is rich with family history… much of it buried,” Newman teased. “But not for long. Vasquez will prove a real challenge to Lieutenant Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) and to Novak (Jocelyn Hudon) as she tries to figure him out.”
Vasquez’s arrival comes amid major changes at Firehouse 51, with Michael Bradway (Jack Damon) and Daniel Kyri (Darren Ritter) departing as series regulars. Still, Newman promises that “in the Chicago Fire world, no character is ever gone for good.”
Season 14 premieres October 1, 2025, at 9 PM ET on NBC, following Chicago Med and leading into Chicago P.D..
