Could Bryan Craig Be the New Javi on DOOL? His Bold Message Says It All

Soap fans were recently hit with the surprise news that Days of Our Lives actor Al Calderon (Javi) would be departing the long-running series following his casting in Season 2 of Brilliant Minds. But the story doesn’t end there. Just days after Calderon’s exit was confirmed, speculation about who might take over the role of Javi has already begun — and one popular daytime alum is openly expressing interest.

Bryan Craig, best known for his Emmy-winning portrayal of Morgan Corinthos on General Hospital, took to X (formerly Twitter) on August 2 to directly pitch himself for the part. Tagging the show’s official account, Craig posted:

“@daysofourlives I hear you’re in need of a ‘Javi’ 👀”

Naturally, the post quickly sent fans into a frenzy, many of whom began rallying behind the idea of Craig joining the Days cast. With his track record of delivering emotionally charged performances and commanding onscreen presence, Craig could be a compelling fit for the complex role — especially if the character of Javi is set to play a larger part in upcoming storylines.

The next day, on August 3, Craig also addressed ongoing fan speculation about a potential return to General Hospital, where his character Morgan Corinthos was presumed dead. In another post on X, Craig wrote:

“Just want to say thank you. I appreciate all the love and support all the @GeneralHospital fans and the tabloids have given me. It will ultimately be up to @ABC_Casting @ABCNetwork @valentinifrank.”

While it’s unclear whether GH producers have any plans to resurrect Morgan, Craig’s comments leave the door open — both for a return to his roots or a fresh start in Salem.

With Days of Our Lives officially recasting the role of Javi, Craig’s bold social media move might just pay off. And given his popularity in the soap community, it wouldn’t be surprising to see NBC and Peacock seriously consider him for the part.

As fans wait for updates, one thing is certain: the soap world is watching closely to see where Bryan Craig lands next — and whether Salem might soon welcome a new (yet familiar) face.
